Therapy for Adolescent Boys / Teens Struggling with ADHD

ADHD in teens can show up in several ways, and symptoms often vary from one teen to another. Inattention may include difficulty focusing on schoolwork, forgetfulness, losing track of assignments, or being easily distracted by surroundings or thoughts. Hyperactivity can appear as restlessness, fidgeting, talking excessively, or difficulty staying seated for long periods. Impulsivity often shows as acting without thinking, interrupting conversations, or making hasty decisions. These symptoms can affect academic performance, friendships, and family relationships, and they may also contribute to frustration, low self-esteem, or anxiety.

Counseling can help teens struggling with ADHD develop coping skills for managing impulsivity, emotional regulation, and frustration. Clients can learn practical strategies for staying organized, prioritizing tasks, and improving time management. CBT can help to address negative self-talk and build confidence, and social skills training can support better interactions with peers and family.
