Counseling for Depression

Therapy for Adolescent Boys / Teens Struggling with Depression

Depression can impact nearly every part of a teenager’s life. Emotionally, teens may feel persistent sadness, irritability, or hopelessness. Mentally, they may struggle with concentration, decision-making, or motivation, which can affect school performance. Physically, depression can show up as changes in sleep, appetite, or energy levels. Socially, depressed teens often withdraw from friends, family, and activities they once enjoyed, which can lead to feelings of isolation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based type of counseling that helps teens understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With depression, teens often develop negative thought patterns, like believing they’re not good enough or that nothing will get better. CBT can help them recognize these unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more balanced, realistic ways of thinking.
